Can escape from the routine and the two rekindle a spark of passion in their relationship, or is this the end of the relationship?

Movie rating

What, again a movie with Meryl Streep? The actress for her age still powerful and active particularly stands out for their many nominations at the Academy Awards. At seventeen nominations and won three gold males (for Kramer vs. Kramer, Sophie's Choice and The Iron Lady), it belongs to the record holders and is the favorite of many a critic. Hope Springs Streep meets alongside actors like Tommy Lee Jones (No Country for Old Men, In the Valley of Elah) and Steve Carell (Crazy Stupid Love) and an old friend: the director David Frankel, with whom she already comedy The Devil Wears Prada has worked.
Hope Springs is in spite of the great actors find it difficult to reach a wide audience. Young people, this film shows not only a relationship that they themselves will never have - passion and without any boring routine - but also the fact that old people still have sex or are at least like to want. All things that we want most like to know about. The few funny moments that occur mainly by Tommy Lee Jones' sullen figure to light, can not be a really deep breath of the depressing problems.

So much so, that you are just watching asks if the couple does not blow the thing and perhaps the relationship should also be completely rather than themselves and the audience to plague even further with embarrassing (S) experiments. While indeed the small town atmosphere is staged managed - Great Hope Springs has all the charm of Stars Hollow from Gilmore Girls - the characters are too little drawn in detail, so that one does not want to be clear quite what joined the two other than their marriage at all ever. So it is then that arise out of discomfort no real emotion and the film progresses very slowly, the audience loses sometime. Even the annoying pop music can get any traction in this tense situation, and if Streep is hiding with bananas and a Sexratgeber by a gay author in the bathroom, you want to take only the head and finish the whole can.

The conclusion is then unfortunately the biggest problem represents three times the film seems to come to an end. But unfortunately, the screenplay writer Vanessa Taylor dares nothing, and the film comes to an end, which - as so often in Hollywood - smells of peace Joy pancakes. The credits spans the nerve then completely when the whole cast peacefully on the beach dancing and the film makes quite a farce. Pity about the top actors, despite the solid performance can not save the film.

Conclusion: Hope Springs is nothing for young people and those who expect a comedy. Who ever wanted to know, however, how it feels one sex therapy should not miss this film. Yet it is still enjoyable, as moviegoers witness of this film are shallow, as a matter of sitting in the treatment room.
